Start Time to Be Announced

Save the date for Sunday, October 22nd, with a rain date of October 29th, for a momentous occasion that takes us back to an important point in American history. The 246th Commemoration of the Battle of Red Bank is a National-level event, set to be held at Red Bank Battlefield in National Park.

Memorial Service Highlights

Special Tribute to Rhode Island Soldiers

The memorial service will pay special homage to the 14 Continental Soldiers from Rhode Island who lost their lives as a result of the Battle of Red Bank. These soldiers were from the 1st and 2nd Rhode Island Regiment. The event organizers hope to include a representative from either the 1st or 2nd Rhode Island Regiment.

Hessian Soldiers Recognition

Also honored during the ceremony will be the Hessian Soldiers who gave their lives on that fateful day. A speaker will provide an overview of a recent archaeological dig at the North end of the park, where bone fragments from over 17 Hessians were discovered. Identification of these fragments is still underway. This is believed to be the largest find of Hessian soldier remains from the Revolutionary War.

Legacy Marker/Heritage Flag Ceremony

A Legacy Marker and Heritage Flag Ceremony is planned to conclude the memorial service, adding a lasting tribute to this significant event.

This commemoration offers a unique opportunity to honor and remember those who fought bravely during the American Revolutionary War. Don’t miss this chance to be part of a significant historical event.
