On April 12, 2026, members of the South Jersey Chapter of the New Jersey Society Sons of the American Revolution, along with family and friends, participated in a private tour of Historic Old Town Philadelphia.
Fourteen participants joined certified Philadelphia tour guide, author, and Philadelphia resident Jim Murphy for a tour of several important sites connected to the founding of the United States. Stops included Independence Hall, home of the Second Continental Congress; the Curtis Building; Washington Square; Carpenter’s Hall, where the First Continental Congress met; and the site of Benjamin Franklin’s residence.
The tour also included several memorials recognizing Revolutionary War Patriots and soldiers, including the Washington Square memorial honoring American soldiers who died as prisoners of war in Philadelphia during 1777 and 1778. At Carpenter’s Hall, the group viewed a Revolutionary War Patriots marker commemorating the men and women who helped achieve American independence.
The chapter enjoyed beautiful weather for a day spent exploring some of the most historically significant locations associated with the American Revolution and the founding of the nation.
